When the Reef Let It Snow
Each December, the Great Barrier Reef enters coral spawning season, one of the world’s most remarkable natural events. Triggered by moonlight and warming water temperatures, coral colonies release billions of eggs and sperm into the ocean, creating an underwater snowfall of new life. This mass spawning signals reef health and renewal.
